MEET JULIE – OUR RECENT PILATESITC GRADUATE

This week we chat with Julie Hamilton, Core Pilates mentee and PilatesITC student who recently graduated with a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction. Julie tells us all about her learning experience, including what it was like working one-on-one with Lisa Jackson at Core Pilates Brisbane.

Julie, let’s start at the beginning. What was your previous occupation and what drew you to Pilates?

I was an Electrical Engineer in Melbourne and started doing Pilates Mat Classes to strengthen my core. I very quickly developed a real passion for Pilates – it was so physically and mentally engaging. When I fell pregnant with my first baby, Pilates really helped prepare my body for what was ahead. Once he was born, I’d take him along to Mums & Bubs Pilates classes, and also started attending group studio classes. I was well and truly hooked. It was at this point I decided to take the next step and started a Pilates Mat Instructor course with Aligned for Life Pilates in Melbourne.

What made you decide to study with PilatesITC?

By the time my third child was born, our family had just moved to Brighton QLD. I made the decision to pursue Pilates full-time and started to investigate which course had the best credentials. I contacted Aligned for Life Pilates back in Melbourne to discuss the best way to further my studies, and Katrina Edwards put me in touch with their Brisbane Affiliate, Lisa Jackson at Core Pilates Brisbane. I booked in for private sessions with Lisa and my journey with Core Pilates and Pilates ITC began.

Would you say your learning experience met all of your expectations?

Yeah, for sure. I really enjoyed the way the learning experience balanced online study with in-studio workshops. The online courses allowed you to work at your own pace and the workshops were very well structured. Coupled with the support of my mentoring site Core Pilates Brisbane, my expectations were well met.

What was your mentoring experience like at Core Pilates Brisbane?

Core Pilates is such an inspiring place. At Core Pilates I completed self mastery workouts, observational hours and work experience hours. The instructors are dedicated and motivated; it was immediately clear to me that they love Pilates. Core Pilates also has a great trainee instructor community, which is very welcoming.

Would you recommend the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction?

The PilatesITC Diploma is amazing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to finish a course with full confidence to start teaching.

So Julie, now that you’ve graduated…what’s next?

I’m currently teaching Pilates in my home studio, Pilates Fix Studio in Brighton, and will continue my learning and mentoring with Core Pilates Brisbane. I’m particularly keen to introduce my clients to the amazing benefits of studio classes at Pilates Fix Studio.

Why is that?

There are so many benefits to a studio class. They’re highly personalised but delivered in a group setting; so you get the best of both worlds. The best bit is that clients are able to utilise a wide range of equipment like the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrel to address postural problems and help achieve their goals.

In completing your Diploma, what was your greatest achievement?

Self-improvement was my greatest achievement. My improvement in both my self mastery and ability to teach is a direct result of the great support I received from Core Pilates Brisbane, and the time and effort that I dedicated to the course.

Congratulations on completing your Diploma Julie. We couldn’t be more proud of you. You have shown consistent dedication to your study and we know you’ll be a wonderful, caring teacher. We wish you great success in the adventure ahead!
